Exeter, NH – The Physicians of Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics announce the addition of Zachary Love, DO to their practice. Now, people living in the Seacoast of New Hampshire in need of orthopaedic trauma surgery have access to the first and only fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon.
orthopaedic trauma is a severe injury to part of the musculoskeletal system, such as bones, joints or ligaments. In some cases, it presents a life-threatening medical emergency, while in others, it is in need of urgent attention but the patient is not in imminent danger. Treatment usually requires the services of an orthopaedic surgeon and can require an orthopaedic trauma specialist who focuses on caring for patients in need of critical attention because of the severity of the injury. Dr. Love specializes in a variety of orthopaedic services including multiple traumatic musculoskeletal injuries, complex fracture care, including open fractures and fractures involving joints.
Dr. Love earned his Medical Degree from Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to receiving Academic Honors in Neuroscience, Radiology, and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine, he put in countless hours of volunteer time servicing the local community.
He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, MI., with several specialty rotations, including Pediatric Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic Oncology and Orthopaedic Trauma.
Following his residency, Dr. Love completed an orthopaedic Trauma fellowship at Duke University in North Carolina. There he successfully treated patients with life changing injuries while expanding his understanding of the social challenges many patients face during their recovery, and the psychological impact of severe injuries.
“I am excited to bring trauma care to the area, and look forward to providing the community with the care and treatment needed to get injured patients back to doing what they enjoy,” said Dr. Love.
During surgery, Dr. Love developed an interest and expertise in the use of minimally invasive approaches whenever possible.
