Frequently Asked Questions about Access Walk-in Injury Clinic
What is the Access Walk-In injury Clinic?
The Access Walk-In Injury Clinic is a state licensed non-emergency walk-in care center. This means that we can take care of injuries or illnesses that are of a minor nature. We cannot care for patients who require urgent treatment like a nebulizer for an asthma attack or patients who are experiencing moderate to severe pain from an injury and require immediate pain relief. If you are experiencing chest pain, trouble breathing, or moderate to severe pain, please call 911 and/or go to the nearest hospital Emergency Department.
What types of patient complaints do you see?
The Access Walk-In Injury Clinic can evaluate and treat all minor, non-emergent musculoskeletal injuries such as sprains, strains, broken bones, and lacerations. We will also see all types of sports-related complaints ranging from concussions to finger injuries and everything in between. In addition, we can treat minor illnesses like strep throat, minor respiratory infections, earaches, rashes, and urinary tract infections.
Do you offer any non-injury or illness services?
Yes, we offer a comprehensive, walk-in Occupational Medicine program. In addition to treating work-related injuries and illnesses, the services provided include drug and alcohol testing, vaccinations, and pre-employment exams among many other services. The Access Walk-In Injury Clinic works closely with the Medical Director and Nurse Case Managers of the Bakie Center at Access Occupational Medicine resulting in coordinated follow-up care for Occupational Health and Medicine clients.

Additionally, there is always a Physician or Nurse Practitioner on-site who specializes in Internal Medicine or Family Practice to care for those patients who present with minor illnesses.
If I need to see an orthopaedic Surgeon for my injury, how long will I have to wait?
In many case you can be seen by an orthopaedic Surgeon at your initial visit. If you were not seen by an Orthopaedic Surgeon, you will be scheduled to see one of the Access Sports Medicine & orthopaedics’ physicians within 24-48 hours of your initial visit.
Do I need to make an appointment to be seen at the Walk-in Clinic?
No appointment is necessary to be seen at the Access Walk-In Injury Clinic. Patients are seen on a “first come, first seen” basis. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 8:30am – 5pm.
Does the Access Walk-in Clinic take insurance and do I need to pay at the time of visit?
Yes, we accept all major insurances and in many cases a patient will only be responsible for an office-visit co-pay. Please call your insurance company’s customer service number if you have specific questions regarding your coverage and if you need a referral to visit a walk-in clinic.
What if I do not have insurance, can I still be seen at the Access Walk-In Injury Clinic?
Yes, but we will ask for payment at the time of your visit. We have two methods of paying for your visit. You will be given a 20% discount off your bill if you agree to pay your bill in full on the day of your visit. The second method requires that you pay a $75.00 deposit on the day of your visit and you will be sent a bill for the remaining fees generated at your visit. In most cases, either payment option will result in a significant discount for the same services rendered at a hospital Emergency Department.
What other services do you provide at the Walk-in Clinic?
We offer onsite x-ray, rapid strep test, urine pregnancy test and urinalysis. Tests such as wound, urine and throat cultures are sent to an outside testing laboratory. When indicated, we can schedule you for an MRI appointment with the Access Open-MRI and Imaging Center. We can often schedule an MRI appointment within 24 hours of your initial visit. Also, if you need physical therapy due to your injury, we will assist you in making appointments with Access Rehabiliation Specialists at any one of our three convenient locations or at another therapy provider of your choosing.
